Extreme Recreation
(ER) is a FREE Gem County Recreation District after-school program for
students in grades 7 - 9.
We meet on Tuesday and
Thursday after
school until 4:30 p.m. in the Emmett Junior High
Cafeteria.
Our goals are to
engage at least 30 youth through mentoring relationships and/or
socialization with screened, caring adults to provide positive
alternatives to risky and / or delinquent behavior. At each meeting,
we have healthy snacks and provide activities for teens to participate
in. These activities vary at each meeting and include non-competitive
sports, team building games, crafts, talent shows and physical
activity. Gem County Recreation District collaborates with Starfish Promise
Coalition, Emmett Junior High, and Gem /
Boise
County
4-H to offer this program. ER also offers "reward" excursions for
goals met.
